Great Escape...or Not

"Wake up some one is coming." I heard Brian say. I looked up and saw Nick already sitting up at full alert. I sat up as quick as I could. We saw someone opening the door. The three of us froze.

We all sighed with relief when we saw it was Adam.

"Come on, their gone. They went to a meeting and they won't be back for a few hours." Adam said hurriedly and waved for us to follow him. We were confused so we hesitated. "Come on! You wanna leave or not?" He said getting impenitent. Brian helped us up and we followed Adam through hallways. He went slowly because he knew we were hurt but he did try to keep the speed up a bit to get us out. We finally made to the exit.

"I called the police. They should be here any minute." Adam said and then looked at us with a sorry look on his face. "I'm sorry about all this. I tried to stop Rick from doing this but he wouldn't listen. He has always been stubborn ever since I could remember. Even dad couldn't control him after he hit 15." Adam said softly. I really felt bad for him.

"Wait you guys are brothers?" Nick asked in disbelief.

"Yea he is 5 years older then me." Adam said. "He forced me to do this. He said he would kill me."

"ADAM! I never thought you would betray me like this!" Rick yelled as Adam jumped. Brian, Nick, and I turned around to see Rick. The three of us were terrified. 'He is going to kill us' I said to myself.

"Rick I thought you..." Adam started but was cut off by Rick.

"Adam dont think it isnt your strong point. I got a call on my cell, the meeting was cancelled." Rick stopped and looked around. Sirens. "You called the cops?" Rick was shocked.

"This can't go on Rick. You are ruining these nice people's lives just because you are jealous." Adam said nervously. Just then 8 cop cars surrounded the building.

Rick pulled out his gun and pointed it at Nick. "I go down so will you!" He yelled angrily.

That is when everything seemed to go into slow motion for me, what really took less the 10 seconds felt like forever. I heard the cops faintly yelling in the background, telling Rick to drop the gun. I saw Rick starting to pull the trigger. I started running towards Nick. My hands reached Nick and I pushed Nick out of the way.
