The next day the 5 guys went down to the police station to report Nick's stepfather. The other 4 guys stayed in the room as Nick told the police all that John had done to him since he was 6. The guys were shocked, mad, sad, and really ticked at John because of what Nick had reviled to the police. Nick reviled that John had once locked him in the closet for 3 days with no food because Nick had spilled his milk. One time he was beaten with a wrench then locked in the basement all because he didn't get straight A's on his report card. Nick told police how he was basically turned into a slave after his mother died and if he didn't do what his stepfather wanted, he would be beaten. His mother had died of cancer and John, in his twisted mind, told Nick it was his fault. That Nick gave the cancer to his mother and for that he resented Nick. The only reason why Nick was allowed to be with the group was because if by some chance they did become famous that John would get some easy money. Hopefully now John would be punished for what he did.
Everything was out in the open. Nick didn't have to hide any more. He felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of him. After a few more questions, the guys took Nick back to the hotel.
"What do I do now?" Nick asked looking at the 4 guys.
"We wait until the police call and tell us that they arrested John." Kevin said
"Oh ok." Nick said and laid down on the bed. He quickly fell into a peaceful sleep for the first time in a long time.

"Nick wake up." AJ said softly shaking his shoulder slightly. Nick slowly woke up.
"AJ? What's wrong?" Nick asked.
"Nothing. I wanted to tell you that they just arrested John and a trial is set in two months when we have a break in our tour." AJ said to Nick.
"Two months? Will John be out of jail? Cause if he is he will come after me!" Nick said fearfully.
"Yes Nick he will be in jail. No one is there to post bail for him." AJ stated. Nick relaxed. He didn't have to worry about John coming to get him. That night the 5 guys went out to eat and then went to the movies. Nick was having a great time. He didn't have to worry about being late or having John there waiting to beat him. He felt like a kid for the first time since his mom died.

The two months past pretty fast for the Backstreet Boys because of all the promotion, rehearsals and recording they were doing. It was now the first day of the trial. Nick was scared. This would be the first time he would see John in 3 months. He knew John would be VERY mad at Nick for turning him in.
"Kevin, I don't think I can go into the courtroom. John will be there and what if he gets loose! He will come after me!" Nick said getting really scared.
"Nick, listen to me ok?" Kevin said and Nick nodded. "There well be officers, jurors, and a judge in the room as well as us. We will be there too. If John tries anything, we will be there to take him down. He will not hurt you any more. Got that?" Kevin finished looking Nick in the eyes to make sure that Nick understood.
"Ok Kevin. Can you sit at the table in the courtroom with me?" Nick asked with pleading eyes.
"If they let me sit there with you Nick, then I will." Kevin stated then fixed Nick's tie. "Come on bro, we gotta go now." The two boys walked out to the van where the other three boys waited for them. They drove to the courthouse in silence.
They 5 guys entered the courtroom. There was a few people in the benches, two guards at the two doors at the far end of the room. The jury and the judge wasn't in the room yet and to Nick's relief neither was John.
Kevin was allowed to sit with Nick at the prosecution table. The other 3 guys sat right behind them in the first row of benches. Nicks' lawyer in the last two weeks had told Nick what was going to happen and that all Nick had to do was tell the truth. Nick was scared and nervous. He was scared to face John and nervous to tell the jury what happened to him.
All of a sudden Nick heard a door open and some commotion. He looked up to see Jon being brought in to the room in handcuffs. Nick felt Kevin put an arm around him and keep him close. John looked over at Nick and gave him the death glare. Nick turned and looked at Kevin.
"I don't think I can do this. He...He is going to kill me." Nick said shaking.
"Nick, he isn't going to touch you. I won't let him. I promise." Kevin said trying to calm Nick down.
"YOU LITTLE SHIT! I WILL GET YOU FOR THIS!" John yelled angrily.
"HEY!" the guard yelled, "Shut Up!" Nick jumped and looked at Kevin. Kevin pulled him in to a hug.
The judge then entered and the trial started. The defense went first. They tried everything to make it look like John didn't do it. The prosecution then went. The police had taken pictures of the scares on Nicks' chest and back to show the jury. Brian was a witness called up as one of the witnesses on Nick's side. He told them how he saw the marks on Nick's back and how Nick collapsed at a rehearsal in front of the boys. Then Nick got up and told the jury what happened. The jury was shocked at what John had done. And by the time Nick was done, the guys were confident that the jury would find John guilty.
After a two-day trial and the jury deliberation, they had a verdict. One jury member spoke on behalf of the others.
"We the jury finds the defendant................."
