Nick arrived back at his house in Tampa and everything from his past had come back to him all in a rush. He cursed himself that his stepfather is having this power over him. He went to his room and threw himself on the bed and closed his eyes.
~~Flashback 1/28/88~~~
"Maybe he will leave me alone today since it is my birthday" Nick thought to himself hoping that John would skip the abuse for one day. "Well better get to my chores." Nick said aloud to no one and headed in to the kitchen to do the dishes.
To his relief John had left for work. He would be gone until at least 7pm that night. That meant most of Nick's birthday would be spent in piece. So he finished his chores then went in to the yard to play some basketball using an old crate as the net. It started to get dark so he went back inside. The clock on top of the TV said 5:30pm. John would be home in an hour and a half so Nick made sure the house was clean. Maybe just maybe John will not beat him today.
7pm. John walked in the door and into the kitchen to find Nick putting his dinner on the table.
"Hi dad." Nick hated calling him dad. But he had to cause John wanted it that way.
"Hi Nick." John said with no emotion at all. He just sat down and started to eat the dinner Nick cooked. "You didn't cook the meat well enough." John said still with no emotion.
"I can put it back on the stove for you." Nick said softly looking down.
"I come home from a long day at work and YOU CAN'T EVEN COOK ME A GOOD DINNER!" John said starting to yell. Nick started getting scared and backed up a little bit. "YOU ARE SUCH A WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT!" John continued to yell then got up and grabbed the now 8 year old's arm and dragging him to his room. John took off his belt.
"Please dad, I'm sorry! Please don't hurt me please!" Nick pleaded but John didn't listen. He just went over to Nick and pushed him down on the bed and started to hit him with the belt. Nick cried and screamed in pain. He felt his back and legs being ripped open by the belt. John continued to savagely beat Nick for a few more minutes until he got tired and stopped.
As John was leaving the room he turned back to a bleeding Nick and said "Clean up that mess oh and happy birthday." Then he slammed the door leaving Nick laying hurting and bleeding on his bed.
Nick couldn't move. It hurt to breath. He would probably get beating tomorrow anyway so he just laid there and rested. He prayed that it would stop. That the pain and the beatings would stop.

Nick opened his eyes. Tears ran down his face. He remembered that day so well. His 8th birthday ruined by his stepfathers' rage. Nick got up and changed then drifted into a restless sleep.

Nick got and made him self breakfast then went into the living room to watch TV.
---Welcome to MTV News. Of course the latest news is on John Wiliams, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter's stepfather, was released after serving 8 years in prison on a child abuse conviction for the abuse of Nick Carter back in 1994. We got some fan's reactions on how they feel on Wiliams release. ----
Nick couldn't change the channel. Instead he listened to the TV and the story on Johns release.

"I can't believe he was released after what he did! He should be locked away for life!"
"I'm not a fan of the Backstreet Boys but what that asshole did shouldn't happen to anyone! Nick I got your back too! Stay strong!"-----
Nick listened as the fans and even the non-fans supported him.
"John would be stupid if he came back" Nick said aloud to no one. The phone rang and Nick leaned over to pick it up.
"um yellow." Nick said not bothering to say hello properly.
"Hey bro!" The voice said.
"Oh hey Brian! What's up?" Nick asked smiling.
"Not much. Did you see MTV News just now?"
"Yea I did." Nick stated simply.
"Anyway..." Brian started changing the subject because of the tone of Nick's voice. "how are you doing?"
"I'm ok. I had bad dreams last night but other then that I'm ok." Nick sighed. Brian was to only one Nick told about having bad dreams and about his past. Nick and Brian talke a little more and Nick told him about the flashbacks. Brian calmed him down telling him that John would be nuts to come back. They finished talking about a half hour later. Nick desided to go out and get the mail.
Nick went into the kitchen after getting the mail and started going through it. On letter caught his attention. It had no return address and all it said was "NICK" on the front. He opened it an read the note. His mouth dropped.
"Do you think I forgot? Do you think cause you are famous now that I won't get you back? I know where you live and I will be back. Watch your back you little shit!

Nick dropped the letter to the table. He slid own the wall to the floor holding his knees to his chest and rocking back and forth. Nick now a 22-year-old, 6'3 man, had reverted back to the scared little boy.
