"I'm late. I didn't do my chores. I'm gonna get beat." He said in a rush forgetting where he was.

"Nick, Clam down, it's me Kevin. Your safe now. There are no chores." Kevin had a hold on Nicks' shoulders. Nick looked at him and he remembered everything from earlier. He sighed with relief.

"What time is it?" Nick asked.

"11pm. We gotta go. We need to make it to the next town by sun up. That's where the next hide out is and I need to see if anyone there can be saved with out me getting hurt. Plus the next town is Orlando or well used to be anyway. Howie used to live there. He still might I think he was sold to a family there." Kevin said and in hearing Howie's name the two men were ready to go.

With backpacks on they headed into the night. Kevin had a knife on him just in case of any trouble. He had his flashlight on but only pointed at the ground to see that they didn't trip. If he pointed upwards they could be caught. They walked thought the night and made it with out any trouble to the next hide out in the early morning. Kevin signed in and the 3 men went to get something to eat.

"I will be going out in an hour to town to see if there is anyone I can save and bring back here. I will also look for anyone we know." Kevin said biting into his apple. In the morning and early afternoon is when the town is at it's busiest. I will come back about 4 or 5pm then I will probably sleep till 11. Then we can keep going."

"I want to help you." Nick said to Kevin.

"You can't. You just escaped that makes you a target." Kevin said reasoning with Nick. "I want to keep you alive. If you are caught... they will kill you." Kevin said seriously. Nick sat back in his chair.

"There has to be something we can do." Brian said. Just then a little girl and boy walked in. The girl looked no older then 12 and the little boy looked about 10. Kevin saw them and pointed over to them.

"You could spend time with the kids. Those two have no parents, well not that we know of anyway." He said then a little smile went on his face. "Besides the little girl always said Nick was her favorite." Nick looked up and smiled a little.

"Ok ok lets go play with the kids." Nick said and got up with Brian following. As soon as the 2 men reached the kids, Kevin saw the smile on the girls face. Nick and Brian were smiling too and for the first time everything seemed back to normal.

Kevin got up and left to scope the town. He told the guys he would be back soon and they nodded and started to play tag with the kids in the nearly empty underground room.

As Kevin walked though the town, the news of Nick and Brian's escape had spread quickly. But he had work to do and he had to stay focused. He continued to walk up the street looking at the different slaves and masters. Some masters you knew not to mess with so those slaves had to wait until the resistance were able to gain control back. As he walked, he noticed this one slave look at him for a long time. Like that she knew him. As he got closer he realized who she was. He made his way over to her pretending to look at the merchandise.

"Angel?" He asked. She nodded.

"Kevin I can't believe you're alive!" she said

"Who is your master?" He asked looking around.

"Jomel." She stated.

"Ok I know where his house is. Tonight after everyone is asleep have your things ready. Where is your room?" he asked quickly knowing there wasn't much time.

"In the back, in the basement." She whispered.

"Window?" he asked she nodded. "Ok crawl out of it right after you know they are asleep. I will be hiding until I see you come out ok?" she nodded. She saw her master coming so she looked down. That was Kevin's cue to leave.

Success he wasn't noticed. He continued down the street and went back to the hide out. He went to check on his friends and found them sleeping along with the 2 kids. He wished he had a camera cause that was just too cute. 'Nick will be happy when I come back with his sister.' He thought to himself then went over and told one of his comrades to wake him up at 9:30pm. It was 4pm so that wasn't much sleep. But he knew how to run on not a lot of sleep.

At 9:30 he made his was to save Angel. He waited at the back of the house in some trees. He looked at his watch and it said 10:30. He looked at the window on the top floor and he saw the light go out. The house was now dark. About 15 minutes later he heard a small creek and looked to see the basement window opening and Angel crawling out. Kevin jogged over to her. She smiled and gave him a hug.

"Lets go. It's not to far. I have a surprise for you to." He smiled and she wondered what it was. They walked/jogged back to the underground safe haven. Once inside Angel followed Kevin to a large room. Kevin saw Nick and Brian were up but the kids were still out cold.

"Hey you!" He said to Nick and he looked up. "Look what I found." Kevin said and let Angel in the room.

"NICK!" Angel yelled.

"ANGEL!" Nick yelled back and they hugged each other for a long time. "You're alive! Thank God!" Nick said crying. Angel was crying too. Brian and Kevin smiled at the scene. Nick and Angel pulled apart. "Wow you grew a bit." Nick said smiling. This was a great day. First Brian, then Kevin, then hearing that AC might be safe and now seeing Angel.

"I missed you so much Nick." Angel said crying.

"I hate to ruin this guys but we gotta go cause with Angels escape, this town and this whole area will be in an uproar." Kevin said and they all grabbed their stuff. Brian and Nick said good-bye to the sleeping kids in a letter and off they went.

"We have to be careful now. 3 slaves gone in a 24 hour period, people will start watching after their slaves more carefully." Kevin said seriously. "I can't free anyone else for a few days. I can only look around for who I can free later on." The 3 nodded at him and continued to walk. They would have to be really careful now.
