I woke up to the sound of people laughing and chatting. I sat up quickly and looked around for away out. Seeing there was none I instantly knew my mistake. I was trapped. I heard the door open and looked over to see a group of people walking in. three girls and six boys. They were all wearing baggy clothes and all of them were either wearing a red shirt or a red bandana. They stopped laughing and talking when they saw I was in the room. One of the bigger guys stepped up.
"Hey what do you think you're doing in here?" He said angrily. I froze in fear. Maybe leaving the orphanage wasn't such a good idea after all. He walked up to me with the others close behind. "I asked you a question!" He yelled and I jumped a little.
"I...I didn't know anyone one...one used this place." I whispered.
"You don't look like a street kid." A girl, which stood beside the boy who seemed to be the one in charge, said. "What's your name? Where are you from?"
"Rachel. From Long Island." I whispered.
"Well now that you're here, you can't leave." The first guy said freighting voice.
"W...why not?" I asked about ready to cry.
"Cause you know where out hide out is and we can't have you telling anyone where we are." He said coming even closer.
"I...I don't even know.... know who..who you are." I said trying to back up but he grabbed my arm.
"Come on guys meeting time." He said then dragged me over to a chair and sat me down in it then hand cuffed my left wrist then attached it to the desk that the chair was next to. He then walked over to the rest of the group. He heard them talking but couldn't make out the words. I was terrified. I tried to get loose but the handcuffs were too tight. I sat there wondering what they were going to do. I began to cry but kept it quiet.
After a few minutes the group approached me. Instinct told me to move back but I couldn't because of the chair.
"Ok you have two choices." The same guy said again, I was guessing he was the leader. I looked at him confused. "You could join our gang or we could kill you." He said then laughed a little. I gasped. I didn't want to die and I never thought of myself in a gang. I also knew that joining a gang wouldn't be that easy. They just don't let people in and I knew there was some thing more to it.
"Wha...what do I have to...to do if I join the gang?" I asked nervously.
"That we will tell you after you make your decision." He said with a sly smile. I looked down 'Gang or death... I don't even know the gangs name' I thought to myself. But I knew that I didn't want to die.
"Ok. I'll be in your gang." I said softly. The leader clapped his hands together.
"Ok well then. Welcome to the Dragons. Snake will tell you what your first assignment is." He said pointing at a guy who was a little shorter then him but he was very muscular. "And if you fail it.... Well you know what will happen. If you succeed you will get to know everyone else in the gang." He then turned and left the room everyone but snake following. I knew this wasn't going to be easy. I knew that this would be my new life. And it scared me.
